Mike Manzoni at NBC Boston posts a copy of one of the signs that started going up yesterday in Newmarket Square advising people living in tents there to move along by 7 a.m. on Monday. Acting Mayor Kim Janey signed an executive order last week outlawing tents - and promising people living in them access to treatment and a place to stay, at least temporarily.

Acting Mayor Kim Janey today announced an executive order that aims to move people now creating tent cities at Mass and Cass and elsewhere in Boston into treatment and housing.

"To be clear, tents are not appropriate for housing," because they lack basic services and lead to infectious diseases, violence and human trafficking, Janey said at City Hall. Read more.

Yesterday, Revere Mayor Brian Arrigo declared the Boston Public Health Commission a pack of disorganized buffoons trying to foist Boston's Methadone Mile problems on his fair city by sticking some Mass-and-Cass people in a currently unused Quality Inn there - with no prior notice to him.

Boston Police today identified the man stabbed to death on Atkinson Street on Monday morning as Ugochukwu McDonald Anaele, 29, of Houston, TX.

Anaele was the fifth person stabbed to death in or near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard this year.

The Supreme Judicial Court ruled today that James Witkowski got a fair trial in 2017 on aggravated-rape and first-degree murder and charges for the death of Lena Bruce in her South End apartment on July 12, 1992, which means he will spend the rest of his life in prison. Read more.

A developer told the BPDA today it will soon file plans to replace a three-story office building at 17 Bradston St., just steps from the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard, with a "mid-rise" building with space for everything from life-sciences labs and medical offices to "pharmaceutical back of house operations" and "advanced manufacturing." Three men face a total of 36 drug and gun charges related to alleged Mass and Cass drug dealing this year following their indictment by a Suffolk County grand jury last week, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, which add it now has warrants for police to arrest 40 more people for dealing drugs along Methadone Mile.
