The Dorchester Reporter takes a look at Mayor Wu's plans for a "Year 13" pilot, in which students at Fenway High School could graduate into a free, year-long program at UMass Boston. The school already lets students take classes at UMass and Wentworth, but that program ends once they graduate.

A Newton landlord has proposed replacing a parking garage at 45 Worthington St. with a six-story, 150-unit apartment building aimed at workers in the nearby Longwood Medical Area. Read more.

Does anyone remember where the hospice in Mission Hill used to be? Did it get torn down? I think it closed sometime in the late '90s but don't know what happened to it after.

Laughing Monk Cafe, 737 Huntington Ave., hopes to more than double in size by taking over vacant space next door, which will let it expand into banh mi and breakfast, its attorney told the Boston Licensing Board today. Read more.

MacGillivray's Warbler on Mission Hill

Mary Ellen spotted this MacGillivray's Warbler in McLaughlin Woods, part of Mission Hill's McLaughlin Playground. They're not usually seen east of Texas, so maybe it was blown here by one of the recent cross-country storms?

Jefferson Apartment Group of McLean, VA, yesterday told the BPDA it will soon file detailed plans for a six-story, 150-unit apartment building on Worthington Street, near Huntington Avenue, behind its existing 20-story J-Vue at LMA on St. Alphonsus Street. Read more.

The Zoning Board of Appeal today rejected plans by the owner of a three-family house on Oswald Street on Mission Hill to convert the top unit and attic into a four-bedroom apartment with four bathrooms, after neighborhood groups and the BPDA said the idea sounded like a plan to shoehorn more students into a neighborhood that doesn't want them. The T reminds Green Line riders that it's shutting down the ol' E Line between Copley and Heath between Aug. 6 and Aug. 21 to make improvements, including sprucing up the tracks it didn't get to the last time it shut the line. Riders who'd rather not just walk from Back of the Hill to Copley Square can instead ride the 39 bus, the T says.

A woman getting off a trolley stopped on South Huntington Avenue, at the turn from Huntington, didn't make it to the sidewalk yesterday evening, because a motorist who disregarded the fact the trolley was stopped and had its door open, ran into her. Read more.

The Huntington News reports on efforts to turn Fitzgerald Park into an accredited arboretum, which means having a large variety of trees and woody shrubs and at least one annual tree-themed event - this year, an Arbor Day plantathon in which volunteers planted new tree species there.

A developer has proposed a two-building project at 804-812 Huntington Ave. that would feature life sciences along Huntington Avenue and 23 residential units in the rear on what now consists of a parking lot, a vacant lot and an unused building where the Red Cross once took blood donations.
