Now THIS would be a Green Line extension

Sending this link to my brother's betrothed in Alberta ...

Too damn funny!

Even if you can't take the T across the country, I figured out that I can get from my house to my 'rents house in Portland, OR entirely without a car or a plane.

MBTA #94 Bus to Red Line T
Red Line T to South Station
Amtrak Lakeshore Limited to Chicago
Amtrak Empire Builder to Portland (or Seattle)
Tri-Met Bus #9 or #19

I believe there are stops along the Empire Builder's route that link with trains for Saskatoon. I know I can get to Calgary and Edmonton.

It takes two days to drive to Saskatoon from, say, Toronto. I can only imagine how long it would take on the "B" line. Passengers would starve to death.

Strangely enough, I'm in the process of planning a trip next summer for a trip from Boston to Fairbanks using only surface travel.
I wouldn't want to take the Green Line though. The Red line would be nice with those really wide cars. Plenty of room to stretch out.

Every country has a city people make fun of. Here in Canada you make fun of Saskatoon. In the Soviet Union, we make fun of [pause for effect] Saskatoon.

Ah, a dose of Cold War humor. Good times, good times.
