On Thursday, around 1 p.m., police arrested Randolph Spencer, 42, and Rafael Risk, 52, both of Roslindale, across the street at 4574 Washington St. on various drug and gun-related charges. Police say they scooped up, among other things, marijuana, crack and a loaded firearm.

I'd still head over to Nick's for a large Hawaiian if I found myself hungry in that neighborhood again.

Also, if you're planning on hitting the packie next door for a quick six-pack, be advised, Sam Adams and Corona are the "exotic" brands and they don't take plastic.

The packy may have changed hands since you left; Nick owns it now.

If you find yourself in that neighborhood again, have a kevlar vest on and some cab money. Unless you're just there foe the peruvian food and the starbucks.

Wow, more violence in Rozzie...color me shocked!

No Starbucks and no Peruvian food in Roslindale.

If you're here for the Peruvian food and the Starbucks, you'll keep moving, so all the hordes of gangsters that teem through the streets of Roslindale won't be able to hit you.

The only thing that can keep you safe in such a gang-infested hotbed of crime and abject horror as Roslindale is an endless quest for something that's actually in a different neighborhood.

I heard that if you keep looking for that fabulous Greek restaurant, you enter something akin to a parallel dimension, and become invisible.

They should knock all those housing projects to the ground. They are nothing bust nests for these gangster/thugs. It all starts at home though, if more(I said more not all) black men would step up to the plate and parent their kids they wouldn't become gansters.

Because a few criminals live on some block, you want to demolish the entire neighborhood and displace the vast majority of law-abiding residents?

The heat flying out the opened windows in the winter months in the apartment where the thermostat is cranked to ninety because nobody is paying for the fuel is the real cause of global warming.

The housing project at Washington/Beech St.'s are being torn down in January 2010. I believe new condos/homes will be built and will be mixed income. Not sure the exact details though. I think its a great start although 2 years seems too long away. I live near the projects and I notice all sorts of people coming and going because a lot of the tenants like to park on my street. Its pretty annoying. I'm hoping to get resident parking only starting in the summer.

The Bulletin reported on the plan this past fall. The net result for Roslindale will actually be 70 more subsidized units, although the actual site will have fewer units than at present (the rest will be scattered around the area). An odd bit of financing: The city hopes to pay for $20 million worth of the work by selling off the Winthrop Square garage downtown - which will also clear the way for the 80-story Tommy Tower.

Isn't it by neighborhood, so the signs and permits would say "Roslindale Resident Parking" on them? The project residents are just as much Rozzie residents as you are, so they'll have the same parking permits as you.
