Today when walking to the Red Line, I heard some obvious out of towner say "Oh, well now we are more Uptown." And I turned quickly and looked at him like "What the fuck man?" There is no Uptown in Boston. Maybe in New York City, but not here. And if there was where exactly would that be? Was he talking about an upper class area? If so, he was a tad mistaken as we were near the Old State House (which no one lives in or around) and the Massachesetts Homeless Veterans Shelter. REEAL UPSCALE. ...

Historically, "uptown" was an area around Symphony Hall. We had an Uptown Theatre next door to Horticultural Hall from 1929 until 1968. There's still an Uptown parking garage nearby.
