I knew I couldn't trust my eyes when it comes to watching videotape of picketers walking in the construction zone, a cop driving the wrong way against the direction of the flagger, and protesters crossing private property in order to leave the public right of way where they were protesting...

Damn those eyes of mine.

Thanks a ton, Middlesex D.A. Gerard T. Leone, Jr., for proving yet again that being a cop keeps you afloat above the law. At least Woburn's police chief still holds discipline and dignity to some standard these days. Maybe by 2010 when you're up for re-election someone else will run against you and this will come up again.

I think everyone knew from the start that this would go no where. Once again, it's shown that there are certain segments of the population in Massachusetts that are above the law and that usually includes those that are supposed to enforce it.

that you will ever see any cops doing this again because they know they will be charged criminally the next time it happens. So this type of criminal activity has been stopped. If you see these guys do crap like this again and disrupt traffic, then you can say they are above the law and nothing can be done.

I doubt that you will ever see any cops doing this again

Do you know them? Did you talk to them? How can you be so sure?

You havent seen it since right? So I am right there.

And now that the officers know that they will be possibly charged and fired if they are caught doing anything illegal (like what they did), you can bet they wont be doing it.

This is a good argument for why BPD leadership should be firm and fair not lenient with discipline meted out to officers who cross ethic bounds or break the law in the course of performing the duty as well as off the job.
