They may not have any vampires, but I think I see a sucker

Lynne Mooney Teta, headmaster at Boston Latin, sent out a letter to parents and faculty explaining that there are no vampires at the school:

The notice, which was addressed to faculty and students and forwarded to parents, did not say exactly what the rumors were. Teta's office referred questions to a Boston schools spokeswoman, who didn't immediately have a comment.

"Seriously?" said Melissa Duggan.

Police visited the school on Wednesday to help cover the identity of their vampire friends explain to the students what rampant rumors can do to disrupt the student population.

If someone sets a fire at the Hot Topic or Spencer's Gifts in the Pru this weekend, I think you might be on to something.

We all know that the imminent zombie invasion is the real threat...

FYI, I'm hearing reports that there were kids at the school who were actually biting each other and drinking each other's blood. I thought this story was hilarious but if those reports are true this is not cool, especially for the Globe not reporting the real story (there might have been gun threats too).

Students ARE biting other students.

From your own linked article:

Police, however, denied reports that anyone at the school was bitten.

I thought I was only joking in the initial post!

So is the REAL rumor they are trying to squash is that someone was bitten by one of these vampire emulating students?

From piecing together comments on the articles, it seems like the headmaster is claiming that no one was bitten, and that this rumor that was started could jeapordize the safety of the vampire emulating students.

Then it looks like the cops came to confirm things and then spoke about how spreading rumors of a supposed violent incident can affect the student body.

At least, that's my guess.

It's confusing.

Did anyone get the "Take the Vampire Quiz - are you a vampire?" at at the top of their screen on this story?

Pre-Dead children in Boston are being discriminated against by Boston Latin School. Vampires have an unfair advantage because they don't have to sleep. That and they're wicked old so they speak good Latin already.

So many good Christian children might be tempted into a life of eternal damnation because undead blood keeps you more alert than your buddy's Ritalin.

Every entrant must be tested twice. First ISEE on paper, then ISEE in mirror!

There are laws in place to protect the rights of the undead. They must be offered the same facilities and instruction as living children. If such are not available at their school, they have the right to be sent to a regional facility that will serve their needs. In the twenty-first century, they should not be demonized. Although some may be zombies or ghouls, none are connected in any way with Satanists or devil-worship. The Red Cross has requested donations to support these diffenentially-abled children, and donation centers will be open until 8:00PM Tuesdays and Thursdays until the supply of illegal immigrant blood returns to its former level.

Together, We - the living and the undead - Can.

Are they up this year at Latin? Is it just adolescent aversion to mornings or something more serious?

If they're up, then I'd watch out for the Werewolves of West Roxbury Education Complex.

No mr. headmaster, we students weren't drinking Coors Light to get drunk in those pictures ... we were holding "silver bullets" to ward off the fangs of other students!

This might be a job for Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter.

Did these so called vampires sparkle in the sun? If so, it's a bigger problem than you think.

Because then they'd be from Twilight, and you can only read characters out of books in Inkheart, and when two book series combine..we get vampires at BLS?

Aand..this is quite mean to the vampire children! They deserve just as good an education!

You think in Roxbury they see vampires? That's just a crackhead!

This is the story that keeps on giving - from the arrival of cops only making things worse to the rumors about those girls who always carry umbrellas (OK, and on a serious note, it looks like it all stems more from "Heathers" than "Twilight").

"Students leaving Boston Latin yesterday said rumors about students claiming to be vampires, or more specifically 'half-vampires,' have been circulating for months. Several said two or three female students at the school carry umbrellas in all weather to avoid exposure to the sun."

Kids say catty things like that. But kids in Boston schools don't actually *believe* that another student is is a mythical vampire. Unless the kid who believes that is *mentally retarded* and needs to be in a special school.

Oh, we had a similar number of students in my high school who did that too - a couple were immigrants from Scandanavia, but the rest were from "the albino family" (siblings and first cousins) and wore sunglasses in the brightly lit gym, too.

nobody even thunk they were vampires though.

WE were just having a little fun ... yeah ... fun. Just kidding around (by attacking and humiliating select people who were not having fun). Yeah.

What a classic Douchebagg Jr. maneuver.

Des Moines teen bites 11 students!

Do you see?! You all scoffed and laughed! But Headmaster Teta was only looking out for the kids! This could have just as easily been Boston Latin instead of Brody Middle in Iowa! Our children won't be safe until we eliminate all of the vampires!
