Police Commissioner Ed Davis today announced an attempt to crack down on a recent spate of violence in certain neighborhoods. He said police are increasing patrols in the following areas: Bowdoin Street (where a three-year-old was shot last night), the Dudley Street area, Franklin Field and the Jackson Square area and the Norfolk Street area in Mattapan.
He added:
The Boston Police Department in partnership with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies will execute a proactive warrant sweep specifically targeting fugitives who are wanted on drug and gang-related charges.

Put some resources there
Same old talk. Boston needs to put resources into this problem - not just window dressing. If these kids were getting shot in West Roxbury of Brighton, the mayor would act. Everything that comes from city hall is so stale.
Same old story
It'll take some sort of senseless drive-by shooting in the back bay for them to ever do anything that's worthy of announcing as a "new bpd initiative". Unfortunately the lives of people like Turner and others who are gunned down for no particular reason aren't important enough to have some call to arms. Maybe I'm just being ignorant and they're doing all they can do under the protection of the constitution but then, that also begs the observation as to why citizens start to take the law into their own hands.
Turner
You did see how they announced an arrest yesterday, no?
