Two charged for 2007 double murder at Franklin Hill party

A convicted drug dealer and a man already wanted for attempted murder were indicted yesterday with the double slaying of two men as they sat in a car outside an outdoor party on July 12, 2007, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office and Boston Police announce.

Stanley Earl Jenkins, 26, of Roslindale and Donald Ray Williams, 27, of Dorchester, were both charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count each of unlawful possession of a firearm. Prosecutors say that Jenkins and Williams followed a couple of men from a large party to their car on Shandon Street and then shot at them repeatedly until they were dead - and that the two victims, Jarrid Cambpell and Jeffrey Jones, had left the party to avoid any confrontations after a disagreement with another party-goer.

DA Dan Conley said despite the large number of people at the party - which featured a concert and which was attended by members of local gangs - police initially had trouble getting anybody to say what had happened:

These indictments are the direct result of Suffolk prosecutors and Boston Police who would not give up when they encountered early resistance. Literally dozens of witnesses and potential witnesses were interviewed, and more than 40 of them were ultimately called into the grand jury. For anyone who thinks he can count on threats, intimidation, or a code of silence to help him beat a murder charge, we offer this as evidence to the contrary.

In February, Jenkins pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute in Maine; he is currently in a federal prison with a sentence of 17 1/2 years. Prosecutors say Williams already had an outstanding charge of attempted murder against him.

Innocent, etc.
