And to think I saw it on Cambridge Street

Hey, what's say we block off part of Inman Square and turn it into a tropical wildlife refuge for a week? Wouldn't that be cool?

... Temporarily closing the street allows it to be transformed into a dense, urban jungle, with large trees which create a virtually impenetrable maze of greenery. A series of bridges and viewing platforms will connect the rooflines of the North and South side of Cambridge Street, zig-zaging across the street, allowing pedestrians to walk amongst the tree tops, looking and experiencing the jungle first hand. This truly unique experience will emphasize the "one-of-a-kind" spirit of Inman Square. ...

Such as, say, observing roaming tigers from the roof of the hardware store.

This one could've come from the fourth round at Bukoswki Inman, gazing out the open front -- people squeezing past on the sidewalk, annoying parked cars and auto traffic, ugly auto repair business across the street -- and saying, "Dudes, wouldn't it be better if this was a jungle? Get a little nature here, man. Lions and tigers and shit." Then having another few, crashing, waking up, and sketching out a concept.

If the intent is to do more than stimulate ideas of other architects or complete a school assignment, and turn it into something viable, only then does the majority of the thinking happen. My bias here: I believe that the best ideas come when working out the details of wacky or blue-sky initial ideas.

Agreed in most any endeavor, but particularly the arts, of which architecture is one.

If SHIFTboston itself is a parody, I'm not getting the joke. Their report on a Greenway brainstorming exercise shows some really interesting, semi-temporary, relatively inexpensive public facilities and uses.
