Or maybe they'll join forces and then mankind is doomed...

Kathryn DeVinney photographed them this morning on Brainerd Road.

I had close encounters with turkeys in Allston twice in 2006 - unfortunately, didn't manage to get photos either time. The first time I almost collided with a tom on Cambridge Street just off Linden; he wandered down to the corner of Cambridge and Highgate and was turning heads while I waited for my bus.

A couple of weeks later I heard one gobbling just outside my house, near Packard's Corner. He flew up to the roof of the house opposite mine and then flew off to a neighboring street. This was very early in the urban turkey sightings, and there were reports of a bird in Brookline near Clear Flour Bread that I assumed was the same one I'd seen in Allston.

The turkeys were in Allston (on the Brookline line at Brainerd St.) on Sunday morning at about 7 am.

But just barely.

Google Maps of the driveway I believe it to be that they're in.

I had a friend rent in a house along that stretch of Winchester St. The town line is about 3 more houses down the road where the sidewalk bulges outward temporarily.

One such previous sighting in Brighton over on Kenrick Street near the Newton/Brighton line.

Two months ago, in the same vicinity, I drove a few turkeys off of the road who were harassing a couple cars, pecking at the tires. Those poor drivers were literally frightened, and didn't seem to realize how easy it was to scare the turkeys away...

They've advanced as far as central Southie.

No word on sightings downtown. but reports state that the local coyotes have set up a blockade at around the Charlestown, the garden and science center.

Out of the three on Avenue Louis Pasteur (2 male, 1 female) a male and female were relocated by the Animal Rescue League of Boston to another location. The remaining male is still in the area and can often be seen sitting in the shade in front of Simmons.
