The shipwreck of the St. John

Tom Sheehan photographs a 20-foot-tall Celtic cross in the Cohasset town cemetery that marks the burying place of 45 unidentified Irish imigrants who died in the St. John "Famine Ship" shipwreck on October 7, 1849 off Cohasset:

... Most of the victims were from the Irish counties of Galway and Clare who were heading to the United States to escape the potato famine that plagued Ireland... All they sought was a better life. ... I felt the sadness of the spirits as I photographed here today.
