Canceling his Zipcar account

Marty Wrin says he used to be a loyal Zipcar user. But when it cut its Jamaica Plain car inventory in half - and moved them to a spot about a mile from his house - he decided to cut the cord:

I'm going to use my neighbors car when I need one to go to a race or triathlon or a specific errand. It's a win-win situation for us, not much win for Zipcar but they didn't seem that interested in JP anyway so I imagine that they won't even notice....

I spoke to Peter Demers, the head of customer care for Zipcar. He was polite, but he didn't have any good news to offer. The cars are gone, and they're not coming back. It's a "business decision"... That is, our neighborhood was good enough for Zipcar when it needed buzz from people who were excited to try something new and green and innovative. But now that they've grown into the corporate mainstream, they're moving the cars where the money is. I, for one, feel betrayed. And now I find myself wondering (again) whether I should (or can) finally break down and buy a car.

But I'm not ready to quit yet. Every member in JP should call and demand that they show some loyalty to a neighborhood that helped get Zipcar off the ground.
