Putting the "ass" in "customer service" at the T

Charlie on the MBTA reports on a fun interlude today on bus 2137 on the 66 route involving some poor woman who'd been told she could recharge her CharlieCard on the bus:

... The driver flat out refused to let her do it saying "Not on my bus lady, I can't be bothered." This was not a rush hour situation as there were perhaps 8 people on the bus and no one was waiting to board. ...

I've had a few ecological moments recently and have taken the 66 bus rather than driving to Harvard Square. I found the drivers on this route to be the incompetent and rude. I've watched little old ladies break into tears because the driver ignored their stop request and barreled past their stop. I've also had the driver shut the door in my face as I was about to board the bus in Harvard Square. Needless to say, I now drive when I need to venture across the river.

Where does the T find these assholes and why do they keep them in their employment. I mean, shit, it doesn't take much skill or smarts to drive a bus. There's got to be someone out there who can do a courteous and competent job. I really feel bad for the people who have no choice and MUST ride the bus.

The 66 is the worst bus line I have ever ridden and that includes the 14 Mission bus in SF. I told a driver he had missed people at a stop and he said he was late and didn't have time to stop. I think the T puts the worst drivers on the route.
