Now former firefighter misses arraignment on drug charge because he's in rehab

A firefighter nabbed after allegedly buying some heroin in Egleston Square while on duty Tuesday night failed to appear at his arraignment in Roxbury District Court today, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Stephen Hogan, 24, resigned from the department Tuesday night after his arrest. His lawyer, Liam Scully, asked Roxbury District Court Judge Kenneth Fiandaca for a continuance on the arraignment because Hogan has checked himself into an in-patient detox facility.

Prosecutors asked that Hogan be found in default, which would subject him to immediate arrest if police found him, the DA's office says, adding that Fiandaca agreed but then said he would not issue a warrant until March 8, given Hogan another chance to appear in court.

Innocent, etc.
