Northeastern is expecting fully vaccinated Huskies this fall - except for people with a medical or religious exemption. International students from countries that might not have as plentiful a supply of vaccine can still come, but the school will help them get a shot.

No more virtual nonsense, Northeastern says: It's going to let its seniors graduate outdoors, even if that means holding two commencement ceremonies to safely handle them all. The school is also looking at possibly holding a separate outdoor celebration for people who had to graduate virtually in 2020. Read more.

The Huntington News reports Northeastern University has agreed to make a proposed 975-bed dorm at 840 Columbus Ave. a proposed 800-bed dorm after nearby residents said: Enough.

As part of the project, which would be built and run by a private company, Northeastern would sell off some of the rental units it now owns in the Fenway.

A federal judge ruled today that Northeastern University never specifically promised students they would be educated in person and so tossed most of a class-action suit against the school over tuition and fees for this past spring's semester. Read more.

Northeastern University announced tonight that it's reversed its decision to make 11 first-year students found in a room together forfeit roughly $28,000 in payments if they decide to re-enlist at the school for the spring - the money will instead go towards the cost of being at Northeastern then. City Councilor Kenzie Bok, who represents the normally student-heavy Fenway and Mission Hill, is urging the city's two largest universities to reverse course and not let any students come to Boston for at least the fall semester - saying the greatest potential risk to Boston is "the sheer influx" of people from out of state, many from places with far higher Covid-19 rates. Northeastern University has told the BPDA it has increased the number of rooms it wants to rent to house students and the staffers who would oversee them at the Westin Copley Place from roughly 575 to as many as 875 - which would mean up to 19 floors in the hotel being set aside for Northeastern.
