A year-old debate over the future of Boston Pride has spilled into the mayoral race, with candidates Andrea Campbell, Annissa Essaibi George and Michelle Wu announcing yesterday they won't be at a Pride-sponsored forum this Monday. Read more.
Boston Pride organizers today announced they've postponed the Pride parade and other events scheduled for June until next year due to Covid-19 concerns.

Tens of thousands of people either marched in the annual Pride parade today or cheered on from the sidewalks along the route. Former Cambridge Mayor Alice Wolf remembers the day 25 years ago when she opened the doors of City Hall for the city's first Pride Brunch.
"This day 25 years ago was, as an elected official, perhaps one of the most emotional days for me," Wolf said this morning at what is now an annual event. Read more.
Aside from a brief and not very heavy spot of rain, it was a perfect day for the annual Pride parade from Copley Square to City Hall Plaza.
We stationed ourselves on Charles Street. By the time it was all over, the kidlet had built up quite the collection of beads.

Lissa Harris ponders Bill Berggren, who is not only the group's fundraising committee chair, but coordinator for the Pride Idol talent contest this year. He says he isn't hiding his past and is only involved in 18+ events. She writes:
... Interviews with former and current Pride volunteers made it clear that the organization doesn't consider Berggren's sex-offender status an issue. The consensus is that he's up-front about his history, he's served his time and he doesn't need reminding to stay away from the under-18 crowd.
