Does anyone in the Boston area know of a place my partner can buy a new suit and have it tailored with a week's turnaround? He's working against the clock here.
Bought several suits from Franks - they turned around the tailoring within 2 days - high quality Italian wool fabrics, still look presentable after ~10 years of infrequent weddings/funeral use. Highly recommend.
The advantage with them is they have multiple locations across Greater Boston. Their standard turnaround this time of year is a week but some stores will be stressed due to large funerals for young or popular people, a large social event etc. Your best bet is to call the closest one to you and asking what their tailor backlog is like.
The morning tends to be a good time to go. Before the big rush for the day, the manager tends to be on duty and they are commission based so getting a suit taken care of with some extras before lunch is great for their paycheck so they will do what they have to do to make sure you get your suit tailored.

Go to K&G in Dedham
They sell brand name suite separates. No need to tailor. You grab a jacket that fits then the matching pants. Under $200.
Under $200, and man,do they
Under $200, and man, do they look like it. They're the outlet store for Men's Wearhouse, which is like being an outlet for an outlet.

Another vote for Franks. Been going to him for decades, and he's one of the businesses I really miss since moving away.
I think that is the place

If so, I'm glad to know they're still in business.

Who can't do it within a week?
I think pretty much any place that sells suits of any notable quality can turn around a new suit within a few days.
