The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded to 141 and 145 Howard Ave. around 7:30 p.m. for what turned into a three-alarm fire at the two closely spaced houses.
Some 30 residents - 21 of them children - got out safely, the department says, adding one firefighter was injured.

Two people were shot around 5 p.m. on Dudley Street at Howard Avenue, WFXT and Live Boston report, adding the injuries are not considered life threatening. Read more.
