State Sen. Bruce Tarr (R-1st Essex and Middlesex) has filed a bill that would bar Internet service providers from selling customers' Internet browsing and connection data to third parties without the customers' consent.
Tarr's bill would also bar the companies from charging customers a fee to keep their data private.
Kevin Franck ponders the $200,000 a dark-money New York group gave to the pro-charter Democrats for Education Reform earlier this month to try to help Leland Cheung defeat incumbent state Sen. Pat Jehlen in next week's Democratic primary.

Mike Freedberg takes a look at the numbers in yesterday's special election for the state Senate seat Joe Boncore of Winthrop won:
Winthrop, which totals about 12 percent of the District’s population, saw about 4100 ballots. Boston, whose precincts take up moire than 50 percent of the District, registered barely 5,420. A town of 18,000 people almost equaled the vote of Boston wards home to about 110,000 folks!

Democrats in Boston Ward 19 will be holding a caucus at the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Hall, 2nd floor, to elect 24 delegates and 4 alternates to the 2014 Massachusetts Democratic Convention, where Democrats from across Massachusetts will vote to endorse candidates for statewide office.
Wayne Wilson was a good man who passed away on November 15, 2013. Wayne was a resident of Ward 19 in Jamaica Plain and was a hardcore Progressive Democrat who was traveling around his State Senate District visiting the local Democrats in effort to challenge Mike Rush for the Senate seat in the September 9, 2014 Democratic Primary. Meanwhile, in the Democratic primary in the 8th Suffolk state rep's race, Jay Livingstone beat Josh Dawson roughly 68-32.
David Bernstein reports Therese Murray even got involved, with her office calling up the Collins camp to say exactly how displeased she'd be if Collins supporters tried an end run against the primary results with a sticker campaign against primary winner Linda Dorcena Forry. So grumpy Southie residents fuming about how the election was stolen from them somehow will just have to stay grumpy.

AP called the 1st Suffolk race for Collins early on, but as of 10:08 p.m., city results showed Dorcena Forry leading by a slim margin - and the Dorcena Forry camp was declaring victory. The Collins camp, however, was conceding nothing.

The Jamaica Plain Progressives posts answers to questionnaires sent to candidates in the 2nd Suffolk state senate race (Sonia Chang-Diaz and Hassan Williams), the 15th Suffolk state rep's race (Jeff Sanchez and Jeff Herman) and the 6th Suffolk state rep's race (Russell Holmes and Divo Rodrigues Monteiro; other candidates did not reply).

Avoiding debates is nothing new for Mike Rush nor is blaming his opponent for not having a debate.
Besides shaking Mayor Menino's hand, and inadvertently violating campaign finance law, it's not clear what is keeping Rush from spending time on a debate. According to his campaign facebook page, he has held exactly five (5) events since April 13, and nothing between May 25 and August 19.
