The Revere Journal reports the city Conservation Commission has banned animal burials on the beach. No, there hasn't been a rush by residents to say farewell to their pets by the water; the commission was reacting to the way the state buried a 25-foot-long, decomposing humpback whale under the sand last fall. City officials say next time, the state had just better find another way to dispose of large decomposing carcasses.

Two restaurateurs known for their upscale establishments in Charlestown, East Boston and Faneuil Hall Marketplace are planning a 5,000-square outlet with "a creative menu and cocktail program and a lively oceanfront dining experience" at a luxury-apartment building under construction on Ocean Avenue, across from the Wonderland T stop. State Police and the Suffolk County District Attorney's office report somebody found a single bone, possibly human, on Revere Beach near the State Police barracks this morning. The DA's office adds:

There is at this time no apparent link to last week’s discovery of likely human remains on the western side of Rumney Marsh Reservation; pathologists continue to examine those remains but have not reached any formal conclusions yet as to their origin.

State Police report on the 25-foot-long carcass. The New England Aquarium reports the carcass is that of a whale that had earlier washed up on a beach in Cohasset. This sort of wandering-whale-carcass thing has happened before.

Confession: After spending three hours in the un-air-conditioned concrete box that is the Board of Appeals hearing room in City Hall, the UHub Mobile Action News Unit had to escape - all the way to Revere Beach for some Kelly's by the sea.

Quite a few people had a similar idea, although most were better dressed for the circumstances, like in bathing suits. The more adventurous ran straight into the frigid waters - where none stayed for very long.

A man who told his family he was "going off the grid" and that they "would not see [him] again" has been identified through DNA evidence as the man whose partial remains were found on Revere Beach in 2014, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

A passerby discovered her body on the sand below the high-tide line around 6:15 a.m. near Eliot Circle, the Suffolk County District Attorney reports.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and time of her death, the DA's office says, adding her body had no visible signs of trauma - and no identification on it.
