Boston Police report arresting on Dorchester man on charges he fatally shot Shamel Winston Atkins on Erie Street in Dorchester on Aug. 28.
Gregory Cooper, 40, surrendered himself to police at BPD headquarters today, police say.

Victim identified as Shamel Winston Atkins, 31, of Dorchester.
Man shot, on Erie Street, just past Washington Street, around 6:30 p.m. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died, police say. Read more.
