The Globe reports a company called Related Beal quietly bought five downtown buildings clustered around quiet little Quaker Lane from Fidelity in December:

The centerpiece of Related Beal’s plan is the redevelopment of Quaker Lane into a new retail magnet that would fill the void between Faneuil Hall, Downtown Crossing, and Post Office Square.

UPDATE, 11:54 a.m.: Truck still there, street still blocked.

High Street by International Place is cordoned off by police this morning due to a situation involving a Dunkin' Donuts truck.

No, the coffee didn't drain into a sewer. Nor did firefighters discover what's in the turkey sausage or the donuts.

Around 4:45 a.m. on April 17, a 911 dispatcher picked up the phone to hear a somewhat frantic woman on the other end - calling from the inside of An Tain on India Street downtown, where she found herself locked in. Firefighters and police were dispatched and were able to talk the woman through opening the door from the inside.

According to police, the woman, after five or six beers and a shot of harder stuff, went into the restroom around 12:45 a.m., went into a stall and fell asleep.

The Boston Business Journal reports that Crumbs, the high-priced cupcake chain with an outlet on Federal Street, has shut down. Apparently, the once hot cupcake market has cooled off (right, Todd?); we hear self-serve froyo is still going strong, in case anybody wants to move into the old Crumbs space.

Boston Police report arresting a pair of men on charges they beat two other men early Sunday in the Financial District, just not badly enough to keep their victims from getting up and chasing them.

Police charge local Brian Dunphy, 21, and pal Matthew Kehoe, 21, of East Milton, jumped a couple of guys around 2:20 a.m. in Post Office Square, apparently for no particular reason.

Menacing fog

Ashley Hill photographed the fog in the Financial District this morning.

It was a little brighter at street level, where Heather Parker was, but are those zombies in the foreground?

The bleach reacted with some other chemical to create a chemical haze that filled the 13th and 14th floors of the downtown Hilton, 89 Broad St., shortly after 11 a.m. Firefighters evacuated the top five floors of the 15-story hotel while the fumes dissipated.

The Boston Fire Department tweets:

Workers on the roof had some chemicals/ solvents that had a reaction with the fumes entering the ventilation system.

A woman with a penchant for Hennessey got a Financial District bar in trouble - and the bartender fired - when she grabbed a bottle of the stuff and stood there as the bartender poured some of its contents into her mouth.

The Boston Licensing Board decides Thursday what action, if any, to take against Brandy Pete's, 267 Franklin St., for the Sept. 2 incident - in which the male bartender also went Coyote Ugly and danced on the bar.

The Herald reports some downtown real-estate types think that if the city can successfully re-brand a bunch of parking lots as the Innovation District, imagine how quickly the disposable-income crowd would flock to the now mind-numbingly boring Financial District.

Upstairs Downstairs, shut since a seven-stabbing closing in February, goes before the Boston Licensing Board next Wednesday for permission to sell its liquor license to the owner of a proposed downtown restaurant.

Bar owner Arthur Sutliffe had originally negotiated with the Boston Tea Party Museum, but next week's hearing lists the proposed buyer as Sterling's, a restaurant on the first floor of 60 State St. that would be managed by Vincent Polcari and which is seeking permission to stay open until 2 a.m. and run an outdoor patio.
