Boston firefighters responded to the under-construction side of the Government Center garage complex, where a fire on the 13th floor extended to the 14th floor. Firefighters were ordered off the 14th floor.

The HYM Investment Group, which owns the garage and which is turning it into the Bulfinch Crossing complex, said in a statement: Read more.

Fancy old car on Congress Street

Roving UHub photographer Christine Beaton spotted this Chitty Chitty Bang Bangish car (without wings or Dick van Dyke, though) perched outside Metro Cafe on Congress Street today. That's not all that far from where the Fort Point Channel seal was spotted yesterday. What will tomorrow bring?

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded to 230 Congress St. around 12:45 p.m. for an apparent chemical release that forced the evacuation of the building, sent three firefighters to the hospital for observation and turned downtown into a traffic nightmare. Read more.

Flipped truck in the Seaport area.

Car parked in bike lane in downtown Boston

The city has been installing bike lanes downtown that are marked off with bollards to keep cars out. But as P. Cheung discovered on Congress Street this morning, the bollards might be a bit too widely spaced.

Smoke in front of Faneuil Hall from motorcycles

Dan Meade reports he was in front of Faneuil Hall around 6:45 p.m. today when a large group of motorcycles came roaring up:

They came down Devonshire, held up traffic at the crossing at Congress to keep the pack together, and then about 100 motorcycles stopped in front of Fanueil Hall and smokescreened the whole block.
