Listeners to IHeartMedia's Kiss 108 this morning learned one of the dangers of stations automating their operations: The station's news reports (shut up, yes, Kiss 108 has news reports) kept repeating "breaking" news of the Las Vegas massacre, which, of course, happened back in October. Chris taped one of the "news" broadcasts, says it was repeated at least five times today and says the station may have been running the same report since Friday. Read more.
Elizabeth Tedesco, better known to 1980s Kiss 108 listeners as Lisa Lipps, died Tuesday. She was 59.
Kiss 108 held its annual Jingle Ball this past weekend. And its DJs kept announcing that Miley Cyrus was in the house - up until the moment they announced she wasn't. But they didn't just say she was about to go on stage - they kept lying about her being backstage:
She has a dancer that's like a little person and I accidentally tripped over her and like pushed into Miley. Dude, it was so embarrassing.
Yeah, that would be, especially since she was still in an airport in New Jersey at the time.

The 'Taylor Swift's Biggest Fan Contest', was being run by Boston, USA's Kiss 108 FM. The competition was hijacked when a 4chan user appealed to members of the online community to help Charles – whom he describes as a friend – win the vote.
John Gorman reports general managers at radio stations owned by Clear Channel - such as WXKS and WJMN - have been summoned to Dallas to be told how to cut their budgets. Clear Channel is now owned by Bain Capital Partners, LLC and Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P., both based here in Boston.
