Margaret Pimentel is all set to open her Achilitos Taqueria, in the new building at 38 Hyde Park Ave., where YMAA used to be, but both the mayor's office and the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council asked the Boston Licensing Board today to defer action on her request for a food-serving license until after she can meet with the council to discuss her proposal. Workers getting off the last train at Maverick could have a place to get some tacos if the Boston Licensing Board approves a 2 a.m. closing time for Taqueria Cancun, 192 1/2 Sumner St.

But if the board votes Thursday to extend the restaurant's closing time from the current 11:30 p.m., owner Jose Torres will have issues with landlady Maria Salgado, who attended the board's hearing this morning with a lawyer to voice her opposition because of the potential impact on the residential tenants in the two floors above the restaurant. The Boston Licensing Board has rejected a request from Amelia's Taqueria to stay open until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

The vote came after a hearing at which the mayor's office and the Allston Civic Association said there was no need for tacos to be served in the area later than the take-out place's current 2 a.m. closing time, even if the T does now run until 3 a.m.

City officials and the Allston Civic Association won't back a Brighton Avenue taco shop's efforts to stay open an hour later on weekend nights.

Representatives of the mayor's office - which just this week announced a task force to look at how to wake the City that Always Sleeps - and city councilors Mark Ciommo and Steve Murphy opposed Amelia's Taqueria's bid to be allowed to stay open until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Boston Licensing Board today meted out an unusually stiff four-day suspension to Las Vegas, 964 Saratoga St., after police found bottles of gin, tequila, whiskey and vodka behind the counter of the former King Tacos, which is licensed only to sell beer and wine.

Owner Raul Santos and his manager said the bottles were purely decorative and were not used to serve customers. But at a hearing on Tuesday, neither could say where the bottles came from or even who had purchased them.

Tacos El Charro, 349 Centre St., will re-open as soon as the city issues an inspection certificate, owner Aida Luz Navarro said this morning.

Navarro told the Boston Licensing Board she was forced to close the restaurant earlier this year due to financial problems - she didn't have enough to pay for a required permit in December, and in January, NStar shut off power due to a $7,000 unpaid bill.

The Boston Licensing Board yesterday voted to let Deep Ellum, 477 Cambridge St., take over the space next door to open a Texas-style taco place called Lone Star Taco Bar.

The board also gave Boston Kabob Co., 164 Brighton Ave., permission to stay open until 1 a.m., Thursday through Saturday. The kaboberia had asked for permission to keep the lights on until 2 a.m. those days.

Joshua Krefetz reports the Allston Civic Association voted tonight to support Deep Ellum's proposal to expand into space next door and create a Lone Star Taco Bar.

The Boston Licensing Board has the final say.

Mike Mennonno reports he's finally had enough of sneering, snorting, obnoxious taco makers at his local Anna's:

... I've actually seen two of them gang up on a customer -- a Tufts student I think he was -- berating him for calling pico de gallo "salsa", almost bringing the poor kid to tears. They often mutter to one another in Spanish about customers who annoy them. And by the way, amigos: I know what "una puta flaca mala" means.
