The Zoning Board of Appeal today approved a proposal to add three floors of apartments to the building that now houses Ace Hardware and several smaller stores on Washington Street at Metropolitan Avenue. Read more.

In what is probably not at all surprising when the pandemic means no more buffets, Lisa Beatman reports (in Keep Roslindale Quirky) that the Flaming Grill and Buffet, which had been serving up Chinese buffet (and mac and cheese and sushi) on American Legion Highway in Roslindale since 2017 has been replaced by Cajun Crab Shack, which, of course, serves various types of boiled Cajun seafood dishes, as well as po' boys. The new look of Cummins Highway

The new, but still temporary, look of Cummins Highway, coming soon.

A city pilot aimed at making Cummins Highway safer by reducing the number of lanes from four to two and adding dedicated bicycle paths will be extended from Wood Avenue to American Legion Highway by the end of the month - as the city looks at more permanent changes along the thoroughfare - a Public Works project manager says. Travel New England reports two cars crashed on Washington Street near Hayes Road in Roslindale around 12:40 p.m. One missed a hydrant, then plunged into a permanent trench that runs along the front of an apartment building at the intersection.

Ed Grzyb reports this tree came down on Brown Avenue in Roslindale this morning, taking out the sidewalk and utility lines, but adds nobody was hurt.

WBZ reports a federal judge today sentenced David Daoud Wright of Everett to 30 years in prison for hatching a plot to behead a rightwing writer but which fell apart after he convinced his uncle in Roslindale to go kill some cops - only to be shot dead in the parking lot of the Roslindale CVS in 2015 by an FBI agent and a Boston Police officer who had been monitoring the two and who said he refused orders to stop coming at them with a large knife.
