Update, 12:45 p.m.: Outage numbers now around 6,112 in Boston, with numerous outages in Hyde Park and Mattapan.

As of 9:30 a.m., Eversource reported more than 3,400 businesses and homes in Boston have lost power - including 1,600 or so in Roxbury, where falling tree limbs knocked out power at 6:32 a.m. and 1,400 in Jamaica Plain, where the power went off at 8:09 a.m.

The Dorchester Reporter sums up a recent Metropolitan Area Planning Council report that found that 21% of the home sales in the Boston area between 2004 and 2018 were to investors - but that that figure rose to 31% in parts of Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan.

A Maine woman today sued a now retired Boston fertility specialist after, she says, she learned that her daughter is actually his, because he impregnated her in his office in 1980 with his own sperm after promising he would use the sperm of a donor who looked like her husband, with whom she was unable to conceive.

Sarah Depoian says she learned of Dr. Merle Berger's deception when her daughter, eager to learn more about her background, had her DNA tested by Ancestry.com and 23&Me: Read more.

Boston city councilors today condemned what they call an abuse by the state-owned Reggie Lewis Center at Roxbury Crossing: Boston student athletes have to clear out by 3:30 p.m. so busloads of students from well-off suburbs can use its state-of-the-art facilities for training and not get home too late. The Boston City Council voted 10-2-1 today to formally oppose BPS's plans to move the O'Bryant School from its current location on Malcolm X Boulevard in Roxbury to a rebuilt West Roxbury Education Complex on VFW Parkway, saying that location, almost in Dedham, is just too far way for many students and that BPS has failed to really take into account the concerns of O'Bryant students, parents and teachers, let alone possible alternatives. Josh Kraft, of the New England Patriots Krafts, is suddenly being touted as as possible candidate for Boston mayor in 2025, because, well, why not? CommonWealth Beacon reports he already has a bunch of ties to Boston, including a long turn as president of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. He's a past Charlie Baker donor and gave money to several council candidates supported by Trump backer and New Balance Chairman Jim Davis, who doesn't like the incumbent.
