Sean Olsen reports that a driver hit and dragged a pedestrian down Brighton Avenue inbound just before Packards Corner. The pedestrian suffered major head trauma and the police homicide unit was called in due the severity of the bicyclist's injuries. Around 7:30 p.m.
WCVB reports that although it initially appeared a bicyclist had been hit, the bicycle belonged to somebody who stopped to help.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today acquitted men from Dedham and Norwood on charges they shot a man in the thigh during a large closing-time brawl that started inside Patron's, at the corner of Brighton and Harvard avenues on Nov. 26, 2015. However, the jury did convict them for illegal possession of a firearm, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

A Boston health inspector shut Totto Ramen, 169 Brighton Ave., today after a sprinkler burst, sending sprinkler water all over the kitchen - from a large container of tripe stew to cutting boards and other food-prep surfaces to walls.
The restaurant can re-open once everything's been cleaned up and the kitchen passes a re-inspection.
