Douglas McGregor watched a two-wheeled BPD officer secure his ride outside the Kenmore Square Dunkin' Donuts, notes:

The bike cops are smart to not carry the weight of a superfluous bike lock! It was the fastest bike lockin' I have ever seen... at perp-arresting speed.

One of those people who read the Globe even on Saturdays noticed this story, in which the region's paper of record says the closing of the Downtown Crossing Borders would leave Boston with "only one chain bookstore in Boston: the Barnes & Noble in the Prudential Center."

It's a mess on the Green Line tonight due to a "minor derailment" of an outbound trolley between Hynes and Kenmore.

MBTA spokeswoman Lydia Rivera says trolley 3602 derailed around 6:15 p.m. after leaving Hynes. No injuries were reported and passengers were evacuated through the tunnel to Kenmore, Rivera says, adding the T hopes to have repairs made by 8:15 p.m. In the meantime, it's shuttle buses between Kenmore and Copley in both directions.

An inbound trolley at Kenmore had smoke coming from its roof around 7:30. Boston Fire reported the all out at 7:43. Traffic through Kenmore Square is a mess.

Meanwhile, there's no E service past Brigham Circle because of a trolley/car collision.

Dave Daniels reports on a recent incident in Kenmore Square - and posts a photo of the bowlegged bicyclist who nearly hit him:

He was weaving back and forth from one side of the sidewalk to the other. I don't know if he had "issues", was on some sort of mind-altering substance, or just an idiot.

Ahmed Yerow, 29, of Chelsea, will spend the next three weeks at Bridgewater State Hospital following yesterday's race of destruction down Comm. Ave., during which he allegedly damaged up to ten cars and injured two people by getting up to ramming speed on the wrong side of the street, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office says.

Roxbury District Court Judge David Poole ordered the evaluation - and ordered Yerow to be held at Bridgewater without bail. He is scheduled to return to court Nov. 24, the DA's office says.

The Daily Free Press reports the student was thrown into the air when hit by a car near the BU East T stop around 12:30 p.m. today, but that she was conscious when taken away by EMTs. The driver was not cited.

The Daily Free Press reports that when a couple finished their $95 meal at the Kenmore Square Bertucci's and then sauntered out last Thursday afternoon, a waiter chased them outside only to have the guy whip out a knife to ward him off. Dude was in his 40s with salt-and-pepper hair and a brown beard. Gal pal was 5'7" with red frizzy hair.

Associated Press reports Citgo is replacing the LEDs it used to replace the neon tubes now that the particular LEDs are no longer made.

Un-robberState and Boston Police report they are looking for a guy who tried to hold up the Mercantile Bank branch at 61 Brookline Ave. while wearing striped pants yesterday morning.

The subject presented the teller with a demand note, but fled the bank without receiving any cash.
