After WEEI reported the Sox tried to get People with Followers on Instagram to say nice things about the Sox to try to stem an avalanche of disgust over the Mookie Betts deal, the team told the station that nah, they always try to get the influencers to back them.

Evidence comes from this Brookline supermarket, where Nomi Burstein shows us the paucity of salsa around 3:40 p.m. (also from the parking lot of the Roche Bros. in West Roxbury, which was even more crowded than usual around the same time, no, really, it was so crowded at least one local editor and his wife just gave up and drove to the Dedham Stop & Shop).

The Gloucester Times reports a Bruins fan called 911 a couple days ago to report his beloved Bruins sweatshirt had been stolen while he was working out at the Y - and then called 911 back a couple hours later when he realized he'd been wearing it the whole time under his vest and just didn't remember putting it on.

The Massachusetts Appeals Court ruled today that a player on a Pennsylvania teen hockey team owes nothing to a Massachusetts player he accidentally slashed in the wrist with one of his blades while checking him during a 2013 match in Marlboro - because checking's an integral part of the game and accidents happen, even if they sometimes mean the permanent loss of function in one hand.
