A man coming out of the Fairmount Grille on Fairmount Avenue around 9:10 tonight found himself surrounded in the parking lot by four teens who demanded a bag he had. One shot him in the head with a BB gun, then they all ran away.
They're described as black, between 13 and 17, all dressed in black.
Before last night's snow
The saga of Hyde Park pedestrians trying to avoid death under the wheels of a truck or something continues. As you may recall, both sidewalks on the Fairmount Avenue bridge over the train tracks and the river went unplowed after the first storm. Then two hero civilians shoveled out one side. Then we got more snow and a snow-plow operator made quite sure (and no doubt unintentionally) that nobody was going to shovel it out again.
Yeah, about that. Looks like a plow driver completely covered it up with snow boulders, so, as Molly Lanzarotta reports, Fairmount Line riders and people looking to get from one side of the train tracks and the Neponset to the other have to walk in the street again.
It's no better down the line at Readville station, where Boston Strolls reports sidewalks have gone unshoveled since that first January storm.
Meet Marcos and Tim, whom Molly Lanzarotta ran across this morning shoveling out one of the sidewalks on the Fairmount Avenue bridge over the Fairmount Line and the Neponset River this morning - just like state Rep. Ed Coppinger did the other night on the bridge named for his father over the Needham Line.

The Boston Licensing Board today deferred requests that would have allowed a new Italian restaurant on Fairmount Avenue and and let an existing Dominican restaurant expand its alcohol selections.
The board also deferred action on a request for a new all-alcohol license for a proposed restaurant in Roslindale Square.
All three had requested one of the 25 new licenses the legislature gave the city in an attempt to expand dining options outside Boston Proper and the waterfront.
The Boston Licensing Board next week hears requests from Rincon Caribeno on Fairmount Avenue and a proposed Italian restaurant across the street for all-alcohol licenses.
Rincon Caribeno already has a license to serve beer, wine and liqueurs. Joe Garufi, owner of Sophia's Grotto in Roslindale, is seeking a full liquor license for Antonio's Bacaro, the Italian restaurant he wants to open in the space formerly occupied by the Hyde.

Tyler reports the new restaurant will be called Antonio's Baccaro - and that Garufi will seek a full liquor license. The building permit says Garufi will be extending the kitchen into the dining area, ditching a drop ceiling and adding new finishes to what old-timers still remember as Dotty's.
A woman's night out for her birthday ended with a stabbing that landed a Fairmount Avenue restaurant before the Boston Licensing Board yesterday.
The board decides tomorrow whether to take any action against the Rincon Caribeno for an argument inside that ended up as a bloody brawl outside that sent one man to the hospital with a stab wound.
According to police and owner Javier Diaz, the party, which began with about 10 people around 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 9, seemed to be going well.
Mike Ball checked out the Fairmount Grill and says if you liked Townsends, which it replaces, you'll feel at home here. But its ale and wine lists are not as extensive as Townsends, he adds.

The long closed restaurant at 81 Fairmount Ave. could soon re-open as the Fairmount Grill.
Christopher Rassias went before the Boston Licensing Board this morning for permission to open an American bistro with "upscale dining at affordable prices" at the site of the former Townsends. With board approval, Rassias would buy a full liquor license being given up by Clarke's, a shuttered South Station pub that is being turned into a CVS.
The Boston Licensing Board yesterday deferred any action on revoking the liquor licenses for Townsends on Fairmount Avenue and Drifter's Restaurant and Lounge on Hyde Park Avenue, both of which have been shut for several months now.
The owners of both licenses failed to show at cancellation hearings on Tuesday. The board yesterday scheduled new hearings - Nov. 13 for Townsends and Dec. 11 for Drifters.
You might try saving up that aggression for criminals in your own town instead of spewing it all in one loud blaring horn attack on some poor woman who just wasn't parking fast enough for your taste.
