Boston Police report rescuing two guys who both managed to fall out of their kayaks in Dorchester Bay yesterday afternoon.
Harbor Unit Officers were directed by officers on land to two victims clinging to a mooring ball approximately 150 yards off M Street Beach. Officers were able to pull them into the boat. The two male victims, ages 52 and 49, were taken to Berth 10 and met by EMS to be transported to Massachusetts Hospital and treated for hypothermia.
Yesterday, Deirdre showed us the electronic signboard on the southbound side of Morrissey Boulevard. As you can see above, the signage on the northbound side of the road is a bit different, even if part of the same general theme.
So beware of Morrissey Boulevard between now and the 26th.

State Police and BFD raced up and down 93 to the Dorchester Yacht Club around 10:10 a.m. when a dump truck swerved off I-93 northbound, careened down an embankment and wound up in the water by the yacht club.
They got the driver out; are now figuring out how to get the truck out. Booms were brought in to contain fuel leaking from the truck's tanks.
One word: Brr!

The final race of this year's America's Cup is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. today, involving futuristic hydrofoils off California. But once, the races took place off England and Rhode Island, and often featured yachts built or upgraded at George Lawley & Son, a boatyard that operated in South Boston until 1909 and then in Dorchester by the Neponset until it shut down in 1946.

So these three women are hanging out at Carson Beach in the wee hours this morning. After awhile, two of them notice the third is mising, they assume the worst, contact State Police and before you know it, a full-bore search is going on in Dorchester Bay.
At least until some woman goes up to a trooper around 2 a.m. and asks what the fuss is about. Turns out the third friend hadn't gone for a swim. She'd wandered along the shore to UMass and then returned to investigate all the lights and stuff back at the beach.

State Police, of course, closed Morrissey Boulevard early this morning, which is what you can expect from a road built roughly two inches above sea level next to a bay. And that, naturally, meant shutting the exit to Morrissey off I-93 northbound.

Neponset Ave is a parking lot. 15 mins from Coffey Street to Lil Peach.
Meanwhile, upbay at Castle Island, Steve Brady reported:
The ocean is slowly devouring the Sugar Bowl, and the water is up to the sidewalk at parts of the causeway. Couldn't even see a hint of the harbor islands from the Sugar Bowl, either. Just the swollen ocean. Very eerie.
Brian D'Amico and AlertNewEngland report a man went over the seawall at the Castle island Sugar Bowl to try to rescue his dog, then couldn't get back up over the seawall. The firefighters of Ladder 19 pulled him back over - along with the dog.
A visit this morning confirmed that the weekend blizzard did little to dislodge the sailboat blown onto Carson Beach during Hurricane Sandy.
