Fatal collision between SUV, car and motorcycle shuts Mass. Ave. Bridge

State Police are investigating a crash on the Mass. Ave. Bridge around 2:30 p.m. that left a motorcyclist dead.

State Police released few details except that the motorcycle rider was a 20-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene and that driver of the SUV is being treated for "emotional distress."

Doug, who took this photo, said the SUV "had major front damage and airbag deployment."

With no identifying documents to go on, authorities have released some information about the woman whose body was pulled out of the Charles River this morning after witnesses watched her jump off the Harvard Bridge, in the hopes somebody recognizes her. According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office:

A head-on collision at rush hour on the Mass. Ave. Bridge left one dead and created massive traffic problems.

Boston traffic on Mass.. Ave towards Cambridge is being detoured down Beacon Street, with police saying the bridge will be shut for "the foreseeable future."

Other streets in the area are also congested and the BU bridge is also heavy traffic.

Boston police are being sent to key intersections to prevent drivers gridlocking the cross streets.

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters pulled two guys out of the middle of the river by the Mass. Ave. Bridge early this morning. After rescuers put life rings around them both and got them out of the water, they were taken to the MIT boathouse for evaluation by EMTs.

The Boston Fire Department and State Police report two men jumped into the Charles River from the Mass. Ave. bridge around 11 p.m. last night.

Boston firefighters and state troopers arrived at the middle of the bridge in time to spot one person in the river "barely treading water." In a statement, State Police say:

If you happen to see a large banner floating by that urges you to "Discover Roxbury," could you let Third Decade know? He spent a lot of time on the thing and was very disappointed when he heard it blew off a trolley bus and right into the Charles River from the Mass. Ave. bridge.
