It can be hard to agree with what Texans or New Yorkers have to say about our fair state, but Lawrence Wright, a Texan who writes for the New Yorker, isn't exactly wrong when he observes:

Plymouth Rock has to be one of the most unremarkable artifacts of American history.

The World's Most Boring Tourist Attraction will be put in a box while the portico surrounding it is repaired. A suggestion: Paint a picture of the rock on the outside of the box. Nobody will even notice.

A Woburn resident claims she owns a chip off Plymouth Rock and is, of course, auctioning it off on eBay (and just in time for Thanksgiving, how thoughtful!). One argument in favor of the thing being real: It is incredibly boring, just like the actual Rock.
