EMC is suing another employee who decided the grass was greener at Pure Storage, a California competitor.

In its latest suit, filed in US District Court in Boston, EMC alleges Jeremy LeBlanc is using the knowledge he learned as "a highly-compensated Senior Systems Engineer" to turn EMC customers into Pure Storage buyers, in violation of the non-compete clause he agreed to when he first went to work for EMC.

EMC wants LeBlanc to stop trying to switch EMC customers to his new side, plus whatever damages the court feels would impress that point on him.

EMC, the Hopkinton-based storage technology company, is asking a federal judge to let it bar a California man's proposed change in its governance from its annual proxy statements.

And it's asking the judge in US District Court in Boston to make it snappy, because the statements need to go out to shareholders by the end of March.

EMC says that even ignoring the fact that John Chevedden is a serial proxy filer, his effort to require the chairman of EMC's board to be "independent" is both a violation of SEC rules because he doesn't own any EMC stock and because it's just stupid.

AcBel Polytech, which makes power-supply units for large EMC data-storage units, is suing Fairchild Semiconductor over voltage regulators that failed "at an epidemic rate" in late 2010.

AcBel charges that Fairchild replaced perfectly fine components with poorly designed ones that shorted out due to humidity and that it then compounded the problem by not telling anybody it had made the change - or then changed back to the old design when the problems surfaced, in a suit filed this week in US District Court in Boston.

Alleging a conspiracy by a rival in Silicon Valley, Hopkinton-based EMC has unleashed a barrage of lawsuits against former salespeople it says left with proprietary EMC information.

In the latest suit, filed yesterday in US District Court in Boston, EMC charges that Chadwick Johnson, a former salesman in Texas, took with him, among other things, a spreadsheet with 93,000 entries of "names, purchase histories, deal values, and other highly specific, confidential, and critical information about EMC customers" when he went to work for Pure Storage of Mountain View, CA.

Erin McElveen details the case of David Donatelli, an executive at our very own EMC, who left for a better deal at California's HP, only EMC sued and now he can't go because of a non-compete clause in his contract, which is legal in Massachusetts but not in California.

And yes, of course, there's a bill to outlaw non-compete clauses in Massachusetts.
