Boston Police report officers last night arrested a local man as a possible suspect in a recent string of West Roxbury car burglaries - with the help of an alert resident who called 911 and a police dog they say sniffed the guy out when he tried to hide in some bushes. Read more.

For the past couple of weeks, somebody's been going around Roslindale tossing plastic Easter eggs into people's yards that, when opened, have the above piece of paper in them. Calling the candidate a "communist" would be kind of laughable for anybody who actually knows what "communism" means, but aside from that, it's become a code-word for "Asian-American" since the start of the pandemic. Michael O'Reilly of West Roxbury was arraigned today on one count each of posing a child in a state of nudity and dissemination of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

Work on a long unused parking lot between the Waves car wash and the McDonald's on VFW Parkway northbound, on the stretch that feels like Dedham but is really West Roxbury, is to clear space so the car wash can add a second drive-through tunnel and more vacuums, according to permits issued over the past few months by ISD.

Firefighter at Millennium Park drain

Update: WCVB reports the dog, a foxhound named Hubert, but nicknamed Bubba, has been rescued.

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters are at the top of Millennium Park in West Roxbury working to free a dog trapped in a drainage pipe. The park is the former Boston city landfill, now capped with clay, a plastic liner and grass-covered dirt, along with a variety of pipes for draining rain and collecting methane gas.

Police supporter being dragged away after taking a swing at some protesters

Police supporter getting dragged away after failing to punch some protesters in West Roxbury.

A man who claims to support the police got about 30 people to join him outside the E-5 police station in West Roxbury, where for two hours this afternoon, they shared a relatively small space on the sidewalk with a similarly sized group of people who want to defund police, each side screaming and bellowing at the other and only occasionally trying but failing to punch out some opponents. A woman who gave a West Roxbury address was arrested in Pinellas County, FL the other day for allegedly driving a golf cart through an active SWAT scene she had nothing to do with. She was naked at the time, police say (note: the story says "Roxbury," but the actual police report, which is linked from the story, shows a West Roxbury address, although possibly not the correct one, since city assessing records list the owners as having Chinese names, rather than her English name).
