Joe Kennedy
The Kennedy campaign issued a press release today about how Ed Markey allegedly never visits most of Massachusetts, featuring what they think is a real zinger: Read more.
Joe Kennedy III made it official today: He'll be running next year for the US Senate seat now held by Ed Markey. Shannon Liss-Riordan and Steve Pemberton are also running.
If Kennedy wins next year, he will be the third Kennedy to represent Massachusetts in the Senate.
Very glad to see @RepMcGovern, @RepKClark, @RepJoeKennedy & @sethmoulton all joining the #NoBillNoBreak fight.

Michael Patrick Brady wonders:
Will the Citgo sign in Kenmore Square go dark for Hugo Chavez tonight?
The Outraged Liberal ponders the latest speculation that JOE4OIL's kid might run for Barney Frank's seat. Complete with the obligatory Michael Goldman quote.
The Globe reports that while the president visits a Dorchester charter school today in advance of supping with rich supporters, US Reps Markey, Capuano, and McGovern will be in East Boston protesting his proposal to cut home-heating oil subsidies. They'll be joined at the home of somebody who uses the program by, of course, JOE4OIL.
Not-Related Kennedy mentions threats on his Facebook page, in reaction to a comment from a Brown supporter upset at being called a Brown Shirt:
Scott Brown says he'll debate anywhere, anytime, except as Foxed notes, most of the seven debates he named yesterday won't include Joe Kennedy, which means Martha Coakley doesn't want to go.
KennedySeat.com sums up her demand that Libertarian Joe "No Relation" Kennedy be included in any debates: Either Scott Brown agrees to let Joe Kennedy in and the anti-Washington crowd winds up split or Brown refuses and Coakley doesn't have to give either of them any air time in a debate.
Yes, of course, there's somebody named Joe Kennedy who has nothing to do with importing Venezuelan oil and of course he's running for that Senate seat (he did courteously wait to announce until after JOE-4-OIL took his name out of contention).

Channel 4 reports.
The Dorchester Reporter reports Michael Capuano will be taking out papers on Tuesday - and adds he started talking about that before Kennedy made his announcement.
Kennedy's complete statement, posted at the Citizens Energy site:
The Globe reports on Joe Kennedy, Hugo Chavez and the special election for the Senate seat.
Howie Carr, meanwhile, spins a conspiracy theory that has Joe sitting out another election, but helping Mike Capuano run and win because that would free up Capuano's House seat for Joe Kennedy's son.
