Boston Police report eight arrests, dozens of tickets and 19 vehicle seizures and one gun seizure during a weekend series of raids at several locations from Roslindale to Dorchester on Saturday aimed at busting up the large rolling parties of scooters, ATVs and speaker-equipped and booze-filled cars that have become a regular event across the city. Most developers don't need to be told twice, but the BPDA has yet again rejected a proposal by a Dallas firm to construct a nine-building, 270-unit apartment complex on what is now a heavily wooded hillside on American Legion Highway next to the Stop & Shop strip mall. Read more.

Boston Police report arresting two men in the parking lot of the McDonald's at 718 American Legion Highway in Roslindale after finding "a Glock 30 with thirteen rounds in the magazine, and a Glock 19 with forty rounds in the magazine" in their SUV around 4:10 p.m. on Sunday. Read more.

In a rare but detailed rejection, the BPDA on Friday said no to a Texas developer's plans to carve out a hillside along American Legion Highway next to the Stop&Shop/Walgreen's strip mall for a complex with 270 apartments in nine three-story buildings with 331 parking spaces. Read more.

The Texas developer that wants to turn a wooded hillside on American Legion Highway on the Hyde Park/Roslindale line into a nine-building apartment complex has filed new plans that call for a bit less asphalt, a bit more greenspace and some additional affordable units - along with a substantial reduction in the number of parking spaces. This past Friday and Saturday nights, Boston Police assigned extra officers to patrol the area of American Legion Highway and Walk Hill Street to break up any nascent street parties and, residents report, it worked. But no extra officers on overtime Saturday night into Sunday morning meant nobody stationed there and the result was a loud party that lasted well into the morning, residents say. Read more.
