Why, yes, those are people walking on the ramp up to McGrath Highway this morning. Daniel Drumsticks reports:

People walking up to McGrath Highway to Lechmere because the first MBTA bus to come by the Medford St./McGrath stop in 20 minutes, the 88, just went past without stopping and the next bus isn't for 15 minutes.

From SNN #20 - 7/29/14: Grounding McGrath Update

Somerville, MA, July 29, 2014 – While pleased the grounding of the McGrath highway is moving forward, residents and local elected officials who attended a recent meeting told Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) representatives that they want to make sure everyone is kept updated on planning and construction, and that the project is well-coordinated with other work going on around the city.

“As things change on McGrath, how will that effect Union Square, and the study that’s going on right now in Union Square?” Ward 2 Alderman Maryann Heuston asked at the July 17 meeting.

Contractors are scheduled to begin repairing the drawbridge by the museum (the Craigie bridge for those of you in the know) tomorrow, which means shutting the Boston-bound side for a month.

Eepers. Pedestrians and bicyclists will continue to be allowed to cross the bridge, but they have to promise not to snicker or even mutter "I told you so" at people in motorized vehicles.
