Protesters showing support for Sacco and Vanzetti

On March 1, 1925, people who supported a new trial for Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, convicted of a 1920 robbery turned double murder in Braintree, marched through the North End and Scollay Square for a rally at Faneuil Hall, where Boston City Council President James Moriarty joined their cause. Smashed window bits lying on Washington Street

Carina Flynn reports she was walking down Washington Street in Downtown Crossing shortly before 3:15 p.m. when she heard a loud crashing sound and turned to see the remains of a second-floor window from HomeGoods, 350 Washington St. lying all over the sidewalk. Read more.

Transit Police report arresting a man they say went berserk and repeatedly punched a worker at McDonald's stand at South Station for the alleged sin of touching the lid of the man's drink around 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Police say the man, 34, was arrested for assault and battery. His victim was treated at the scene, police say.

A recent report projected more than a $1-billiion decrease in property-tax revenue from downtown office buildings seeing a continuing drop in occupancy because a lot of people are still working at home. Scott Van Voorhis reports we're now seeing the first wave of that: A growing number of requests for tax abatements from downtown building owners who claim their buildings simply aren't worth what they were in the Before Times.

A New York developer has filed plans with the BPDA to replace offices in three adjoining buildings it owns on Washington, Water and Washington, Water and Devonshire streets in Downtown Crossing with apartments, under a city pilot aimed at giving tax breaks to building owners who do just that. A man who was convicted of raping a 72-year-old woman in her South End apartment in 2000 was arrested today on charges he held up a market on Washington Street in Downtown Crossing and a market on Staniford Street in the West End, both on Feb. 11. Read more.

Transit Police report they are looking for a guy they say threw a lit cigarette at a man's face - causing a burn - and then "displayed a knife in a threatening manner" at South Station around 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Boston City Council tomorrow considers whether to let Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson (Roxbury) start up some formal consideration of a proposal for "congestion pricing" as a way to ease gridlock on Boston roads caused by narrowing car access because of bicycle and bus lanes - and maybe even provide enough revenue to help improve public transit.
