On Monday, the mayor's office announced the city would be showing the Winter Classic Bruins hockey game on a big screen in Copley Square.

But the Globe reports that NBC/Comcast has blocked the outdoor viewing because it owns the exclusive rights to the telecast and it's not going to let a bunch of people just watch it in a park.

Also: Petition to let Rene Rancourt sing the national anthem.

Pub "Max Pacioretty et McDonald's" à Boston (Max 67)

How far we've fallen: Not only do a bunch of Bruins fans in a bar go into foodgasms over a McDonald's hamburger, they don't realize who's feeding it to them. Also, McDonald's is too cheap to get the rights to show the Bruins logo.

Crowd at Boston Garden

Two minutes before the puck was supposed to drop tonight, Alex Carlson found herself way far away from her seat as Garden security got extra tough to prevent a recurrence of last night's stabbing at the Celtics game.

Mayor Walsh was the bearer of the bad news - which also includes school going right through June 30. He said school officials are still figuring out what to do if we get more snow days.

Walsh said the T has assured him T buses will be running and that trains will be running on at least a limited schedule.

Walsh made the school announcement after meeting with the heads of 10 school unions.

The CBC reports:

“We don't think it's prudent for a student to wear a Boston Bruins jersey in a school during this very intensive playoff play,” Cohen said.

"At this stage in the game, with the Canadiens leading the series 2-1, why ignite things, why create a controversy," he added.

Barstool Sports finds the tweet that started the whole meme about how racist Bostonians made the N-word trend - and the tweet author's admission he just made the statement up.

Yes, he made it up, but that didn't stop the media from wailing about racist Bostonians.

What should we call this stuff?

WBZ reports some Quebec liquor store has pasted Canadiens stickers over the "Boston" on six packs of Sam Adams.

That got Jeff Israel to thinking:

Alright citizens of Boston, time to rename everything in our city named after the city of Montreal! Ok I've finished.

Bobby Orr in Newton

Paul MacMaster was among the 2,500 or so people who lined up tonight to get their copy of Bobby Orr's new book signed by Number 4 himself at the New England Mobile Book Fair:

#4 will have a sore hand tomorrow, but he's still smiling now.

A cranky citizen complains about the Bruins jersey that George Washington is still wearing up there on his horse in the Public Garden:

When the world visits Boston, they have no idea why George Washington is wearing corporate graffiti for a Canadian/Russian sport.

For added emphasis, the kvetcher checked the box asking if the item in question is "offensive."

Because, otherwise, this has not been a good week for Boston sports fans (also, as Prairie Rose Clayton reminds us: The Revolution lost a big game and NESN fired Naoko Funayama).
