The Boston Fire Department reports a four-alarm fire that heavily damaged a warehouse on Border Street in Central Square started inside a trailer parked inside the warehouse:

Heat source too close to combustibles. Indication someone may have used it to sleep.

The Board of Appeal yesterday approved plans by the owner of 135-139 Border St. to gut what is now a three-story office building and turn the upper two floors into apartments or condos.

East Boston warehouse fire

BFD: Cause may have been somebody using a heat source to warm a trailer he or she was sleeping in.

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded around 6 p.m. to Border Street for what turned into a four-alarm fire in a vacant three-story warehouse next to the shopping center. Read more.

301 Border St. proposal

The Zoning Board of Appeals yesterday approved a developer's plan to replace auto-body repair shops with a six-story condo building at 301-303 Border St.

The BPDA had approved City Realty's plans for the $21.6-million, 64-condo project, which will include ten 3-bedroom units and consolidate five lots into one, last month. Read more.

Police responding to reports of a large fight behind the Shaw's, 246 Border St., around 5:10 p.m. found one man stabbed and another with a head injury.

Boston Police have released two photos of a guy who did an excellent job using his hood to hide his face when he robbed the Eastern Bank branch at 246 Border St. on Saturday.

He's described as black, 6'2" and clad in a gray hoodie.

Police say he gave the teller a note and threatened violence if he didn't get money.

Boston Police report they are looking for this guy in connection with an incident around 8:05 p.m. on Wednesday at the Shaw's on Border Street, involving a girl under 14:

Still, the Boston Fire Department has ordered part of Border Street, across from the Shaw's, shut as a precaution after large pieces of a building being demolished at 250 Meridian St. came down all over the place around 8:50 a.m.

There was no collapse. For the past 5 weeks the building has had contractors on scene dismantling the building. No injuries.

As a precaution the Chief on scene has asked for a building inspector to check out work being done.

Around 1 p.m. inside 420 Border St. Two ambulances summoned, one for the victim, shot twice, one for the possible suspect, apparently thrown off a balcony after the shooting.

Around 4 p.m., near the Shaw's. Firefighters were able to knock the fire down before it spread to nearby piers. The arson squad was called in to investigate.

The Boston Licensing Board decides tomorrow whether to let the newly renovated McDonald's at 178 Border St. extend its drive-thru closing time from midnight to never.

At a hearing today, the move got "strong support" from both Mayor Walsh and City Councilor Sal LaMattina, whose representatives told the board that the round-the-clock food would be a good fit in an area that already has two 24-hour pharmacies.

Boston Police report arresting Chhoeut Chin, 42, of Lynn on charges he murdered Sherry Bradley, 32, of Lynn, whose body was found at 800 Border St. on Aug. 1, 2013.

Bradley left three daughters and a son.

Bradley's death was not ruled a homicide until April of this year.

Coppersmith Village

The BRA yesterday approved a non-profit group's plans to replace two abandoned buildings between Border and Liverpool streets with 56 apartments and 15 townhouses.

The Neighborhood of Affordable Housing says its Coppersmith Village project will include a mix of affordable and market-rate units - and will include a number of three-bedroom apartments aimed at families. All of the townhouses, which will be sold, rather than rented, will have three bedrooms.
