Henry's Market, 892 South St. in Roslindale and Sava's, 150 Bennington St. in East Boston, go before the Boston Licensing Board next week for permission to extend their current beer-and-wine licenses to include harder alcoholic beverages.

The board's Zoomed hearings begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

A federal appeals court yesterday upheld Ilir Bregu's 2018 conviction and six-year sentence for regularly driving oxycodone pills in his Lincoln Town Car from Staten Island to a Revere home whose occupants, a father and son, would then sell them out of their garage on Bennington Street in East Boston. An East Boston resident reports a woman walking her dog across Bennington and Wordsworth streets was rushed to the hospital after a driver ran a red light and hit them around 2:30 p.m. The woman was released later in the day.

State Police report arresting a Chelsea man for some major closing-time street carnage at Bennington and Porter streets this morning that they say left an innocent pedestrian rushed to the hospital, a tree knocked down and a utility box, light pole, bench and his own car and his alleged opponent's car heavily damaged. Renegade's Pub, 1004 Bennington St., reports it's been burglarized twice in the past week. According to police records, the first time was sometime overnight before an employee opened up around 11 a.m. on July 1 and the second in the same time period on July 5.

Dylan Etheridge, 22, is scheduled for arraignment tomorrow on a number of charges, including motor-vehicle homicide, for a crash on Bennington Street early this morning that killed one of his passengers and injured a second, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

Aftermath of the casket-company fire in East Boston

Boston firefighters remained at what was left of the New England Casket Co. this morning, continuing to hit hot spots with water to prevent any flareups of the nine-alarm fire that broke out around 3 p.m. yesterday, sending fire out windows and the roof well into the evening. Read more.

A fire that erupted on the roof of the New England Casket Co., 1141 Bennington St. in East Boston shortly after 3 p.m. spread throughout the building and spewing toxic smoke that forced the evacuation of nearby residents as it went to nine alarms. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board voted yesterday to roll back the closing time at three liquor-serving establishments in East Boston's Central Square from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m. because of repeated closing-time problems that have included fights and robberies that police said were cause in large part by people rolling into the area for last call after the bars close at 1 in Chelsea, Revere and Winthrop. The Boston Licensing Board decides Thursday whether to roll back closing time from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m. for Bohemios and Billares Colombia on Bennington Street and La Gran Manzana, Central Square, after a hearing today at which A-7 Capt. Kelley McCormick and Sgt. Tlaloc Cutroneo testified they are fed up with babysitting an area that for two hours every night fills up with drinkers stumbling around, getting into fights, getting mugged, urinating in a parking lot and just generally causing a ruckus that is a headache for residents of the dense area.
