The Boston Fire Department reports 12 residents made it out of 87 Westville St. in Dorchester when flames began going up one side of the building, but that one firefighter required transportation to a local fire.
Firefighters responded around 5:35 a.m., the department reports, adding the cause remains under investigation.

The Zoning Board of Appeal today approved plans by the owners of a Fields Corner cafe for a four-story building with 14 studio apartments no bigger than 280 square feet on Westville Street. Read more.
Live Boston reports a man was stabbed around 11:35 p.m. on Thursday at 208 Westville St., about halfway between Geneva Avenue and Draper Street. Due to the severity of the person's injuries, the homicide unit was called in.
KMV reports gunfire on Westville Street near Geneva Avenue - possibly as many as 25 shots - overnight. Nobody hit, but officers and search dogs searched one particular house, although they did not find any suspects.
