The Zoning Board of Appeal today rejected a proposal to turn a one-family house at 13 Greylock Rd. in Allston into a five-unit building after one member noticed that plans showed two proposed units were smaller than allowed by city building guidelines - and residents complained the house is already a neighborhood trash generator with just one family in it. The Zoning Board of Appeals last week approved a proposal by City Realty to replace the unoccupied house at 9 Mansfield St. in Allston with a five-unit apartment building with six parking spaces in the rear. Read more.

UPDATE: City Realty says the murals in Allston Hall can be moved and that it's talking to Allston Main Streets about how to relocate them.

City Realty wants to replace a series of buildings around the intersection of Harvard Avenue and Cambridge Street with five new buildings and a gut rehab of a sixth that would include a total of 334 apartments and condos as well as new first-floor retail space. Read more.

Jamaica Plain News reports City Councilor Matt O'Malley and the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corp. convinced City Realty to reduce the rent increases in an Egleston Square building that would have forced six Latino-owned businesses out of the square.
