He's got a campaign video that plays up his appointment by St. Ronnie, but doesn't mention the courage it took to resign from the Reagan Justice Department, and which points to his huge margin in his first election, but forgets to add he ran against a man who self-immolated in an angry interview with a beloved local anchorwoman.

Bill Weld, from his Web site

Yes, of course he has a Web site.

WBUR reports the former river-diving governor has formed an exploratory committee to look at running for president in 2020 - as a Republican.

Looks like Big Red Weld wants to primary Donald Trump. And it's possible Seth Moulton is getting over his shellacking in the house-speaker skirmish and might be gearing up as well on the Democratic side.

Stephen Lynch seems to think so. Of course, his ascension to the house of solons would require John Kerry to be appointed Secretary of State or something. But he's got $1-million+ burning a hole in his bank account and running in a special election would mean he gets to stay in the House when he loses, so why not?

On the Republican side, "party leaders and consultants" are actually chatting up Bill Weld. Bill Weld? When did they repeal the residency requirement for running for statewide office?

So what's the connection between Bill Weld, convicted Bulger thug Kevin Weeks and Herald columnist Howie Carr? Jay Fitzgerald lays it out. The latter two now have books out on the Bulger reign of terror and the Man Who Would Be Governor Again may (finally?) have to answer questions about how the Bulger gang got away with what it did while Big Red was U.S. Attorney and governor in Boston.
