A group of 11 Charlestown Navy Yard residents today sued the BPDA and two non-profit groups, saying the approval process for a plan to turn a closed hotel into an apartment building where nearly half the units are meant for people trying to get out of homelessness not only violated state bidding laws and their own constitutional rights but will lead to sick, hungry, jobless addicts wandering and maybe even dropping dead in the streets of the historically important neighborhood. St. Anthony's Shrine on Arch Street wrapped with the names of 9/11 victims

The St. Anthony Shrine on Arch Street downtown was wrapped today with the name of all the victims of 9/11, Anthony Castiglioni reports.

Two non-profit groups say they will soon file detailed plans to rebuild the shuttered Constitution Inn at 150 3rd Ave. in the Charlestown Navy Yard into an affordable apartment building, with roughly half the units aimed at people making between $30,000 and $83,000 and the other half targeted at "households headed by women or by veterans" who were previously homeless. We understand the comfort of sweatpants, and we get the professionalism of a pair of slacks... but right now - we need jeans - in any and all sizes! Durable, denim pants are always a major request at our day shelter.

Down the drain.

In a 2-1 decision, the Massachusetts Appeals Court ruled today that Suffolk County prosecutors can't use a loaded gun, 9 small bags of heroin and 23 small bags of crack as evidence against Jamal Chin-Clarke on gun and drug charges because Boston police officers didn't have enough evidence he was involved in a criminal act at the time they searched him. St. Francis House, which provides services to the homeless on Boylston Street, says it's hoping for $10,000 for emergency plumbing supplies so it can resume providing showers and hot meals. Currently, the kitchen is flooded from a burst pipe.

With roughly 500 men and women who desperately rely on our refuge services every day, this is absolutely devastating.
