A teenager was murdered at Babson and Fremont streets in Mattapan around 11:30 a.m., the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
This is Boston's second murder in 2023. The first was about a half mile away, on Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan Square.

Boston Police report arresting a 16-year-old they say was walking around the area of Norfolk and Babson streets in Mattapan with a gun loaded with 14 bullets - and seizing eight dirt bikes - Friday night. Read more.
The Dorchester Reporter reports the Boston Landmark Commission recently voted to make the Massachusetts Tribe's Mattapan Rhyolite Quarry, behind St. Angela’s Church along Babson and Cookson streets, a "pending landmark." The tribe used the spot to dig out rhyolite, "an ancient volcanic stone prized for its banded maroon color and ideal qualities for making stone tools."
Three people were shot, one in the stomach, around midnight at 115 Babson St., Stanley Staco and Mark Parkinson report.
