A group of Roslindale residents who sued to block a proposed apartment building on Belgrade Avenue at West Roxbury Parkway - several of whom lived in a condo building next door - dropped their suit after a judge said they didn't have much of a case, but could continue if they posted a $200,000 bond to compensate the developer for delay-related costs should they lose. DCR planners told the Longfellow Area Neighborhood Association last night they hope to go out to bid this spring for a contractor to add traffic signals and do related intersection changes where Walter Street meets Centre Street in Roslindale. Read more.

Hawk eating something in Roslindale backyard

Scott Kelley reports looking out at his Roslindale backyard today and watched a hawk finish up a meal atop a stump there. By the time he noticed what was going on, the hawk was mostly finished, so he wasn't able to discern what was on the menu. He adds:

The raptor looks to be a juvenile Cooper’s Hawk. Maybe too large for a Sharp-skinned?

A federal magistrate judge today ruled Wolf Fevrier of Roslindale both a potential threat to society and a flight risk and so ordered him held without bail during proceedings on charges he robbed the Rockland Trust branch on Centre Street in West Roxbury on Feb. 16. Read more.

Update: WHDH reports the person died.

A person on a moped suffered serious head trauma in a crash with a motor vehicle outside the Target store on Washington Street in Roslindale shortly before 7 p.m.

Washington Street was shut so first responders could tend to and then transport the victim while detectives investigated the crash.

A Land Court judge has given some neighbors of a proposed apartment building on Belgrade Avenue at West Roxbury Parkway a deadline of March 5 to decide whether their lawsuit is worth posting a $200,000 bond to continue - money they would forfeit to the developer should they lose. Read more.

A Dedham developer has filed plans with the BPDA to raze a medical office and a house to put up 15 condos at 55-57 Belgrade Ave., between St. Nectarios Church and a 31-unit apartment building now under construction where the Folsom Funeral Home used to be. Read more.

The MSPCA reports its trying to find the owner of a severely injured cat that a worker at the Stop&Shop on American Legion Highway in Roslindale found lying in the store parking lot as she left work shortly before 11 p.m. on Feb. 11. Read more.
